March Empties

So, another month has ended and it is time for me to look at which products I have used up this month and whether I will be buying them again.

Helen E Long Lasting Lip Colour - Hollywood Red, Raspberry & Caribbean

My first experience with Helen E cosmetics was when one of their super-friendly and enthusiastic sales reps offered me a goodie bag at the Clothes Show 2013. She showed me their amazing skin smoother, which I will write about very soon as I have fallen in love with it! I later saw an advert on their Facebook page offering free lipsticks to everyone, and I cannot say no to a freebie. I chose the shade Hollywood Red, a classic bright red which evokes images of glamorous Hollywood starlets. I was so happy with Hollywood Red that I bought Caribbean and Raspberry too.

I like the Helen E lipsticks because they are moisturising and glide smoothly onto my lips. Also, as the name suggests, they are long lasting and keep my lips a vibrant colour all day.

Review: March Glossybox "Beauty Blossom" Box

I am quickly becoming addicted to beauty boxes, I love getting to try so many different brands each month. March's theme is Beauty Blossom  as the weather is getting warmer and the thick winter jumpers are being replaced with summery dresses and skirts. This was a nicely mixed box containing one haircare product, two makeup products, one body care product and one fragrance. The Dove hair treatment and Bellapierre shimmer powder are the stand out products for me while I was less impressed by the perfume samples.

Farmer's Market

Not the usual place to find beauty-related products, but whilst browsing the local farmer's market yesterday, which visits my university campus once a month, I came across a lovely little stall selling beautiful coloured blown-glass decorations, including this pretty little hair grip.

The photo doesn't really do it justice because in the sunlight this shimmers and shows so many different colours. I visited towards the end of the day and there were only two left, I wish I could have bought more in different colours, especially since they were only 50p each.

I love farmer's markets. The one that visits my uni always has a wide range of stalls selling interesting (and usually delicious) things. I also bought mushroom and basil focaccia, almond baklava, chilli and garlic olives, stuffed vine leaves, poppy seed cake, fiery ginger fudge, yellow pepper and chilli jam and fig, star anise and port chutney.

Have you ever found any beauty/hair products in unexpected places?

Mother's Day Gift - L'Occitane

The person who I am most inspired by every single day is my Mum. She is so kind and caring and I feel so lucky to have a mother as awesome as her. If I ever need anything, be it help, advice, a hug, someone to watch a film with or help with a complicated hairstyle, she is always there for me. So it's only fair that I spoil her a little bit on Mother's Day to show her how much I love and appreciate her.

Getting ready in 15 minutes

So today I overslept, by far too much. This meant I only had 20 minutes to get ready and leave my house so I would make the train and get to uni on time. Here is my quick makeup and hair, in fact it was so quick and easy to do I even had a moment spare to take a photo to share with you!

When I am in a hurry I usually throw my hair up in a bun like this:

Latest In Beauty: Winter Collection Editor's Picks - Review

I was so happy with the LIB Glamour Edit that I was persuaded to purchase this box too. This is a winter themed collection, with many of the products aimed at conditioning and refreshing tired, dull skin in time for spring. Cost: £14.99 plus postage. Total value: £55.60 (wow)

NOTD: Geometric Sparkle

First of all, please excuse the messy bits, I only had a couple of minutes before I needed to leave so in my rush I ended up taking the photo before tidying up my nails.

#nomakeupselfie - raising money and awareness

Hi everyone, I have been unbelievably busy with uni coursework and exam revision but good news, the semester ends next week then I will be free to write all the posts I have been planning!

Just thought I'd quickly share my #nomakeupselfie. I think this has been such a wonderful effort by everyone to raise money and awareness of a terrible disease.

According to this Telegraph article, more than £1,000,000 was donated in 24 hours, which is incredible. Some people have said that just posting a photo doesn't help anyone but nearly everyone will have seen a photo from a friend on Facebook or Twitter, or heard about the campaign on the news, which means maybe more people will remember to check themselves regularly - this could save lives.

Another great thing about this campaign is the confidence it has given to girls to post a photo without wearing any makeup, this is something many girls would have never done before. It has been really heart warming to see all the lovely  comments from people telling others how gorgeous they naturally are, without makeup.

If you want to get involved, remember you can donate by texting BEAT to 70099 to donate £3 or visit http://www.justgiving.com/cancerresearchuk

Review: Barry M Silk Nail Paint

I am always excited when I hear Barry M have a new collection out, and the silk collection certainly has not disappointed!

These might possibly be the best nail paints I have bought so far this year.

Clear Skin - Quick Tips

Everyone has their own skincare routine and tips for getting rid of annoying blemishes. Today I will share some of mine:

Protect your skin from sun damage

It is never to early to think about protecting your skin for the future. Preventing the sun from damaging your delicate skin is much more effective than trying to hide the damage and wrinkles in twenty years time. There are lots of great daily moisturisers which contain SPF15 and above so there is no reason to not protect your skin!

I like to use Garnier Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One Blemish Balm Cream.

Price: £9.99 from Boots

This can be used as a primer, but it provides such good coverage I will sometimes just use it on its own to give my skin an even tone and gentle, luminous glow.

Eyeliner - Pencil, Liquid or Gel?

Eyeliner is my FAVOURITE piece of makeup. After all, the eyes are supposedly the windows to the soul...

Eyeliner is extremely versatile and can be used in so many ways to totally transform your look, from gentle subtle definition along the waterline s to dramatic cat eyes.

Some people find applying eyeliner intimidating, which is totally understandable because normally we keep things as far away from our eyes as possible! Hopefully I can share some information and tips which will turn the process of applying eyeliner from daunting and seemingly complicated to fun and simple.
