Brighton Trip

Hello my lovelies,

So, as you can see I've had a little break from blogging, over two weeks in fact. There's no one particular reason, just lots of little reasons and things that took up all my time. But now, I'm back and I can't wait to jump back in and write lots of posts!

Two weeks ago myself and a couple of friends took a little trip down to Brighton to visit one of our friends who lives there now. We had a fantastic weekend watching the Pride parade and festival, wandering around the shops, drinking cocktails at the marina and visiting the beach.

Be warned; this will be a very photo heavy post!

Cute iPad Accessories from ASOS

Unfortunately I'm a clumsy person. Countless glasses, teacups and pocket mirrors have met their end at my hands, so a case and a cover is a necessity to keep my iPad in one piece.

I usually take my iPad to university with me to make notes on, so it spend a lot of time in my bag. To keep it clean and safe I chose this leather case which zips up. This case also has little elastic straps in each corner which hold the iPad securely in place and prevent it from falling out when the case is opened. The lining of the case is soft, so the screen won't be scratched. I chose a black leather case because I seem to always end up with a lidless pen or a bottle of water which leaks in my bag, but this case is waterproof and easy to clean.

ASOS Leather iPad Case With Lizard Panel - £10.00, reduced from £30.

ASOS iPad Case In Exclusive Indie Tile Print - £3.50 (reduced from £15)

I love the crazy patterns and different colour of this case! The back of iPads are sooo easy to scratch so I keep a hard clip-on case on permanently to protect and also to make it look a little bit more interesting. I was pleased to find this for £3.50 because even though I really like the design, I do not think it is worth the original £15 price tag as there are so many cool cases available on the likes of Amazon, eBay and Etsy for much less.

July Birchbox - Sun, Sea and Sand

This year I have well and truly become a beauty box addict, trying out several different subscriptions each month. So far, I think I have been most impressed by the Birchbox product choices, and this month looks to carry on their winning streak....

Review: Ciate Denim Manicure Kit

I have been loving the Ciate manicure kits, they are always fun to use and create some interesting looks. The latest one I've tried is the denim manicure kit which is based on denim jeans and includes cute little details such as stitching and studs.

NOTD: Simple Squares

Hi lovelies,

Here's my latest nail art. For once I've resisted the urge to cover every nail in glitter and kept it simple with just 3 colours and clean lines.

My Birthday!

I turned 20 last Saturday and had a wonderful weekend spending time with my family and friends.
I know 20 isn't a milestone birthday like 18 or 21, but I did feel a bit sad to be swapping my carefree teenage years for a decade where I'll probably have to start thinking about scary things like a career and mortgage. :o

NOTD: Pink and Orange

So, in order to travel light and save room for makeup and clothes, I only took two bottles of nail polish (Ciate - Kiss Chase and Soigne - Persimmon) and two little nail art pens, thinking I'd just keep my nails basic with pretty colours. But of course, I had to find a way to make them a little bit more interesting, so here are two designs I ended up wearing throughout the week.

More Magazine Freebies!

You know I can't resist a good makeup or beauty freebie, and this month there are plenty to choose from!

Last week I mentioned the fab Clinique freebies with Glamour

Another item I really like is the Balance Me Face Cream which can be yours if you pick up a copy of Marie Claire, which is also reduced to £2.50 this month.

Holiday buys and photos!

Hello :)

So you may have seen me mention I was on holiday last week, in the lovely and very picturesque Cornwall.

Whenever I'm on holiday I love just wandering around the little shops and finding weird and wonderful little things. Here's a couple of the cute things I picked up...

I am a little bit obsessed with wearing flowers in my hair at the moment, it just makes me feel so summery and happy. The vibrant, neon pink of the bracelet really stands out and looks great against a tan.

New Blog Design - Floral Patterns

You may have noticed my blogs looks a little different to the last time you visited. For once I've chosen a colour scheme to give my blog a more polished and "together" feel. Of course, there is still plenty of pink involved!

I really like delicate and intricate patterns, and the flowers add such a girly feeling, so I think this new design really fits with my personality.

Anyway, hope you all like it! If you have any ideas for improvements I would love to hear them!

At the Beach!

I'm currently on holiday in the lovely Cornwall. Today, after waiting a few hours for the sun to finally make an appearance, I went to Crantock beach.

NOTD: Summer Stripes

I'm off on holiday tomorrow! :)

I can't wait to spend my days lying on a beach in the sun, so to get into that summer feeling a little bit early I've included lots of bright, summery colours on my nails.

Vibrant orange and pinks are definitely summer colours, while the white base looks will pop once my skin gets a little bit tanned.

Colours used (from bottom to top on thumb)

  • Ciate - Cocktail Dress (reviewed here)
  • Ciate - Kiss Chase
  • Soigne - Persimmon (from May Birchbox)

What's on your nails? What are your favourite summer colours?

NOTD: Neon Geometric

I love the clean, crisp lines striping tape can achieve, I just dislike how long it takes! But today I had lots of time to just relax and play around, and here is the result:

Tag: Secrets of Blogging

This tag was created by Hannah | Hannah Notes and I saw it posted by the lovely Be | Love From Be. ♥

I love tags because they are a great way of making links in the blogging community and also encourage people to talk about their personal lives :). This is one which will relate to many of you as it focuses on something we probably have in common: blogging!

PostPals - Brighten the Lives of Children

This is a different type of post to my usual beauty/nail art focused posts, but this is such a worthwhile cause that now I know about them, I want to tell as many people as possible.

PostPals is a wonderful charity that aim to brighten the day and put a smile on the face of seriously ill children, through the use of little gestures that show the children and their families that they are not alone. You can get involved by writing a cheerful letter or email or posting a small gift to one of the children on the website. If you want to help but are nervous about writing, there is a helpful section on their website which gives you advice on writing letters. Alternatively you could make a cash donation, or remember to use their affiliate link next time you want to buy something from Amazon, as using this link means a small percentage of the profits will be donated to PostPals.

If you read the testimonials, you can see that something so small that may only take you a few minutes to do can have a big impact on a child who is ill in hospital and feeling isolated. If you want to get involved, check out their FAQ page to get started and make a positive difference today. :)

Haul: Burt's Bees - Summer Haze Grab Bag

This may be a little late since Burt's Bees actually released their amazing grab bags a few weeks ago and the Summer Haze bags sold out within days, but I thought I'd just mention they still have a few of the Summer Kiss grab bags available.

While this was all sold together in one incredible goodie bag, I'm going to count it as a haul just because it contains sooo many different products.

First of all, the number of products you receive for your money is pretty impressive; for £25 I received 10 items with a combined value of  over £55.

NOTD: Roses & Polkadots

This is my first attempt at painting roses, so they're not prefect but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. :)

NOTD: Bright Flowers!

Now summer has arrived, it's time to break out the bright, cheerful summer colours! One of my favourite summery shades to wear on my nails is coral, and after receiving the beautiful Soigne - Persimmon in last month's Birchbox (review here) I had to try it out.

Review: You Beauty Discovery Box June

Beauty boxes are brilliant! They have introduced me to so many lovely brands I would have never thought to buy otherwise. Since the content of most beauty boxes is usually a surprise, sometimes I receive something I really, really don't like (orange eyeliner, I'm looking at you...). BUT, that is not a problem with the lovely little You Beauty Discovery box, because each month they send you a menu of items picked by their team and ask you to choose the two you'd like to receive. They do also include a couple of little treats, but they are generally items that will appeal to most people or a tasty snack.

Here's what I chose this month:

Saturday, 7 June 2014

NOTD: Citrus Gradient

Since we've had a few days of nice, almost summery weather here in the UK, I thought I'd paint my nails with some pretty bright colours to match the lovely sunshine.

Review: Ciate Flower - Bada Boom

Today I am reviewing one of the manicure kits I will be giving away in my June Giveaway (click the image below to enter if you haven't already!)

This kit is pretty different to any other nail art kit I've seen; it contains real dried flowers!

Review: You Beauty Discovery CEW Limited Edition Box

You Beauty Discovery are currently offering the CEW Limited Edition Box for £16.95, a collection of the products which were picked as finalists in the Cosmetic Executive Women Awards, worth around £90. Inside there are some gorgeous luxury brands to be found including L'Occitane, Elemis and Manuka Doctor.

New Blog Design

Today, as you can probably tell if you've visited before, I decided to update my blog design. The old background was so bright I felt it was a little distracting. Hopefully you'll find this a bit more aesthetically pleasing!

I've also changed the layout, now there is only one sidebar which means the area for the main blog post is wider, so photos look better. Please let me know what you think of my changes and whether the colours work together.

NOTD: Feathery Stripes

I always thought this nail polish was red, but I've just realised it's actually named Amazon Pink. Clearly, I'm not very good at identifying colours. Anyway, I recently bought a few nail art pens from Primark so I thought I'd try them out. They are the sort of nail pens that can be used two ways, either as a fine brush or squeezed through a tiny needle thin nib. Unfortunately, out of 6 pens I have only been able to undo the lid and use the needle part on one pen. :( I can't decide whether this means I am incredibly weak or if it is actually a cruel trick by Primark and they aren't actually openable...

Review: May Love Me Beauty Box

Love Me Beauty is a fab beauty box as you get a choice of 3 menus which means you have some control over the products you receive. May's box was a little different to usual as it consisted of both beauty products and little extras such as tea samples and notebooks.

June Giveaway! - Ciate Manicure Kits

As a thankyou for following and visiting my blog, I will be hosting small giveaways of my favourite items evey month!.

This month I'm giving away two fabulous Ciate Manicure Kits

Ciate Kits contain everything you need to create eye-catching nail art. I've tried quite a few, but my favourites are the pretty flower kit and the cute denim kit. I'll be posting reviews of both of these soon, so look out for those!

Review: May Birchbox

After a couple of disappointing Glossyboxes, I have switched my allegiance to Birchbox! And I am happy to say I was very pleased with the May collaboration with Harper's Bazaar. First of all I have to say, this is the prettiest box I have ever seen. Inside was a great mix of products; Benefit They're Real Mascara, Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, Soigne Nail Polish, Aromatherapy Bath Oil and Beauty Protector Shampoo and Conditioner.

NOTD: Swirls

I was sorting through my nail polsih collection last night when I came across a box of nail art pens that I have hardly used. Poor little nail pens, lying there all forgotten... So naturally, I had to use them. This is the result.

Haul: Makeup Revolution

About a month ago, I posted a Makeup Revolution wishlist, and I am very happy to report I have purchased a lot of their lovely products.

Review: May Glossybox - Superdrug 50th Anniversary

For weeks Glossybox has been dropping hints about a big collaboration for the May box, getting everyone excited because collaboration boxes are usually awesome!

When I heard Superdrug was the collaborator, I was surprised at first but then I realised just how iconic a retailer Superdrug is; for me, and maybe a lot of you too, Superdrug was the place where I bought my first pieces of makeup and is still a shop I can't walk past without having a little browse.

So let's see what Superdrug has picked out for us this month:
5 full size products + 2 samples, which is always nice.

NOTD: Inspired by Jessie J "Ice Queen"

I had another exam today, and painting my nails the night before an exam has become a bit of a ritual for me these last few weeks, so that means it's time for another NOTD post!

Saturday, 17 May 2014

Haul: L'Occitane

Recently there was a sale on the L'Occitane website and since I love their products but can't usually justify paying their higher prices I thought the sale would be a good opportunity to try a few things.

Thursday, 15 May 2014

NOTD: Green Reptilian

I'm halfway through my 2nd year uni exams, so I've been busy revising almost solidly from the moment I wake up in the morning until I go to bed, even taking flashcards to work with me. I was feeling pretty stressed out, so I decided to take an hours break and do something relaxing, and here's the result!

The green shatter pattern I've used here reminds me of a lizard's skin, then I added a touch of chunky green glitter which also has a scale-like appearance.

Thursday, 8 May 2014

NOTD: Silver and Black

After receiving my lovely Ciate haul, I could not wait to try out the gorgeous shiny, bright silver - Fir For A Queen. I know they aren't the brightest of colours, but silver and black are probably my favourite colours, for makeup, to wear and on my nails too!

More Holiday Buys!

I like these two purchases too much not to share them with you quickly. They are quite different to one another and represent very different elements of my personal taste.

First up, rhinestone covered skull. Dark, creepy but also a little bit flashy.

So, turns out the five year old version of me still lives somewhere in my brain, because I couldn't resist buying these little cuties. They can now be found clipped onto my bedroom curtains, making my room just a little bit more girly...
